Adventures of SpawN and HeatoN
We were on the ground about 21.30 after a pleasant 5 hour and 45 minute flight. Flying into Dubai we had an impressive view over the city and it was a beautiful sight. When we touched down we had to take a bus from the plane to the terminal. Stepping out of the plane we hit a wall of heat - we looked at eachother with satisfying smiles. Coming from Sweden and Denmark where it is currently 15 degrees celcius and cloudy, the 31 degrees (at night) in Dubai was very welcome.
As first time visitors, coming into the terminal in Dubai was rather confusing. We started out by heading down to the visa-acquirement area, but after about 10 minutes, we were told that people with European passports should just get in the passport control lines. We thought "oh ok, great" - but then we saw the lines. There was about 25 lines with 100 people in each, just waiting to go through passport control, and they weren't moving very quickly. Other than the waiting time we didn't experience any problems going through. SpawN was very excited about the quick expedition and stated "this is the first time I've gone through a passport control so quickly" (hinting to the fact that he is black with a Muslim name, and usually has to through thorough examinations at passport controls). Little did he know that karma would get to him for that comment.
After the passport control there was a small security check before entering the baggage area. We got through without problems and headed to pick up our baggage. All that was left now before we could enjoy Dubai to the fullest was the customs control, and this was where karma hit SpawN in the face. Even though we were walking together, SpawN was picked out of the crowd and asked to go to the counter and scan his baggage. HeatoN and I looked at eachother and laughed as HeatoN said "everything back to normal". Obviously we are not smuggling anything and therefore have nothing to hide, so there was no problems in the scan.
We were finally in Dubai.

Hello world!
Welcome to the first day in our diary from Dubai. I am sorry to have to already admit that the documentation of the first day is rather poor, as we spent most of our time in a plane - and I didn't have the camera on me, as it was checked in with my baggage. Such a smart guy!
Aaaaanyway. I met up with SpawN and HeatoN in Vienna airport where we had our connecting flights to Dubai. SpawN and HeatoN came in from their residence in Stockholm, Sweden and I was personally travelling from Copenhagen, Denmark.
We always have a lot of fun when we are together. As I haven't seen the guys since our trip to Istanbul in December 2010, where we had an event together with BenQ for a newly opened gaming concept centre called the "The Game", I started out by asking them how their trip was. SpawN answered satisfyingly that he had slept the whole trip from Stockholm to Vienna. Apparently HeatoN wasn't that lucky and this is where I had the biggest laugh for a long time.
HeatoN started his day by almost missing the flight to Dubai, as he had booked a taxi to go to the Arlanda Express station, where trains goes to the airport in just 20 minutes. However, the taxi never came, so after 20 minutes he called up the company and asked them where the taxi was - but apparently it wasn't gonna come within the next 20 minutes, so HeatoN was starting to get stressed. He called up his father in the early morning, asking him to take him to the airport, as he was late and going to miss the plane if he had to wait for a taxi.
His father was still sleeping at the time, but as kind as parents usually are, his father got up and drove his son to the airport. Yaay, happy ending? No. HeatoN continued explaining about the worst morning in his life.
The plane from Stockholm to Vienna was fully booked, so SpawN and HeatoN weren't able to sit next to eachother. As previously stated, SpawN slept all the way from Stockholm to Vienna, while HeatoN's bad luck continued.
HeatoN was seated next to a rather restless person, who obviously had problems controlling his movements. The guy couldn't sit still and was repeatedly making random spasms with his arms, repeatedly bashing HeatoN on his shoulder. That would be annoying to anyone, of course, but HeatoN's explanation of the happening was truly amusing - and I regret not having a video of it. I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard!
Imagine HeatoN, this big Viking Warrior-like killing-machine, moaning and whining that he has just experienced the worst morning of his life, while trying to explain how the whole world was against him. He was late for his flight and is then cramped into a small, fully booked plane with the smallest seats ever, no room for his legs, crappy biscuits for snacks, no drinks and to top it all off, a guy who kept bashing him on the shoulder. He ended the sentence with a "FML" and I literally lol'ed.
I am truly sorry that I don't have a video to show for the description, as HeatoN had a very colorful way of describing his experience. But you can only imagine, hahaha.
Anyway, to make things even funnier, it doesn't entirely end there. Having finished our lunch in Vienna airport, we decided to go and buy some beverages that we could bring on the plane. We bought a couple of diet cokes and headed for the security check - only to receive the message that we couldn't bring the beverages. Fair enough, we respect the security measurements and didn't think more about it - we could finally get on the plane to Dubai!
We had originally booked three seats next to eachother in the middle-aisle, with SpawN sitting in the middle of HeatoN and myself. Apparently he wasn't too happy about this position, and as the plane wasn't fully booked, the whole row infront of us was empty. When boarding was completed, SpawN decided to head up one row and sit by the window, where he quickly fell asleep.
HeatoN and myself also jumped up on the same row as SpawN, so we could put down our seats without disturbing people sitting behind us, as those were now the seats we had left empty. At this time the seats infront of us were also empty, so we had good space and noone infront or behind. HeatoN was satisfied!
While HeatoN was putting his giant legs on both sides of his seat he was finally getting comfortable for the first time on this trip. Two German tourists travelling to Dubai apparently didn't have the same sense of respect as we had showed our fellow travelers originally sitting behind us by taking new seats. They decided to occupy the seats infront of us, instantly dropping the seats, smashing down into HeatoN's knees and literally putting him in another cramped situation. After a "HEY!" from the big guy, the seats were put back up and HeatoN could finally rest for the duration of the flight.
